Tu

Tu, (known as Ku in Hawaii) is one of the most powerful and widely worshipped gods in all of Polynesia. He is the God of Creation and God of War, and specifically in Hawaii, god of the east and the rising sun.

In 1778, at the time of Captain James Cook's arrival in Hawaii, Hawaiians were worshipping Ku as a great war god and human sacrifices were made to him at their temples (heiau). (From Dictionary of Polynesian Mythology. Page 121)
