About the Jeweler... Nalini Gauthier

From a young age, Nalini was picking up puka shells and random pieces of anything on the shores of Kauai that she could string into necklaces for her cousins and sisters. Encouraged by her father to pursue the arts and jewelry making, she continued to learn more about the craft as she grew up. In college, she studied art classes where she learned basic design elements and how to work with a variety of materials. Her Tahitian husband Manarii Gauthier exposed her to the beautiful world of Poe Rava, Black Pearls, and it became her favorite medium to work with. Seeing how the pearls were cultivated in the beautiful Tuamotu Atolls and the broad variety of pearls that resulted was inspiring to Nalini. With the help and encouragement of her family and the Gauthier family in Tahiti, the company Purotu Designs was able to come to life.

Nalini's aim is to create pieces with fine quality materials while still maintaining affordability. Her style ranges from beachy to classy and everything in between for every age.

Purotu, meaning beautiful in Tahitian is what Nalini's designs are all about... a visually appealing design to beautify the wearer. Casual, fabulous, unique, for all of life's beautiful moments...
